Infiltrating Lobular Carcinoma of the Breast

Abstract

|
|
The lobular cancer of the breast is rare type of the breast cancer. In 1941, Foote and Stewart reported on a type of the breast cancer which arose from mammary lobules and was therefore designated under the heading lobular cancer, In 1956, Haagensen proposed that the infiltrating type of lobular carcinoma be termed small cell carcinoma.
In recent years, special histologic and cytologic variants of lobular carcinoma have been described. Since lobular carcinoma, either in situ (LCIS) or infiltrating (ILC), bear particular prognostic and therapeutic implications, deviations from the classic well recognized histologic and cytologic patterns need to be recognized.
We report that we experienced a case of lobular cancer of the breast, who was 77 years old female patient.
